School Street Sessions takes its inspiration from the Saturday Club, the 19th-century gathering of writers and thinkers that met at the Parker House beginning in 1856. Its members included Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Since our debut in 2016, we have presented readings and conversations with authors in the Kennedy Room of the Omni Parker House at 60 School Street, Boston.
Our programs are organized by an all-volunteer board and are free to the public and welcoming to all. Because seating is limited, we ask everyone to register ahead of time.
