Mary Bonina is a multi-genre writer whose published work includes three volumes of poetry, My Father's Eyes: A Memoir, and My Way Home, a novel set against the Vietnam years, exploring a woman's secret past and the unexpected aftershocks almost two decades later.
"Complex and haunting, My Way Home feelingly delineates one woman's predicament and its aftershocks many decades later—a cautionary story all too relevant to a time when a woman's right to control her body is somehow still—infuriatingly—unsettled."
— Gish Jen, author of Bad Bad Girl
Mia Millefoglie's new book, Daughters of Stone and Tide: Loss and Resilience in a Fisherman's Family, weaves historical research tracing generations of her Sicilian family immigrating to Gloucester's waterfront, and examines what the sea gives, what it takes away, and the forces that bind and sometimes break families.
"This is such a gorgeously written story about the grace and power of family legacy. Maria Millefoglie has created an incredibly moving exploration of where she belongs and the power of story to heal and reveal. … In trying to answer the very deepest questions of where she comes from, Millefoglie shows us most of all how she learned to love."
— Susan Conley, author of Landslide: A Novel and The Foremost Good Fortune: A Memoir
